Brooks Memorial State Park, WA

On April 20, 2023, I made a road trip from the Tri-Cities to visit my brother in Portland, OR. I took the long way through Goldendale in order to work a couple of parks along the way. The first stop was Brooks Memorial State Park along Highway 97. The park is in a nice, forested area with camping and picnicking but is otherwise unremarkable. The activation was notable for me though because I tried out a prototype for an operating platform designed to sit on a car’s center console, permitting the car seat to be used for comfortable operations. I also brought along the IC 7300 because I wanted to run 100W and avenge my earlier humiliation at the Goldendate Observatory, which is just another 45 minutes down the road. I simply wanted to get another activation in the bag so I got my 10 contacts and moved on. But one of those contacts was from Alaska, something that always excites me.
